What Causes Severe Pain In The Abdomen After An Appendectomy?

I had an appendectomy through laprascopy Monday the 7th. Today is the 9th. The drs said I would be fine by today and to go to work today. I most certainly did not as I am in the worst pain j have ever experienced still. I feel like I m full constantly so it pains me to eat or drink water (I m forcing the water down) now I have the worst headache I ve ever had (I ve had migraines for 15+ years. Is this normal?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Pain is quite common after every surgery. As of now you can take analgesics, like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac for pain relief. Also take antacids, like Omeprazole and Pantoprazole. If pain persists despite analgesics, it is better to take an ultrasound scan to look for any infection or collection in the abdomen.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
