What Causes Severe Pain In The Abdomen While Suffering From Fibromyalgia?
My 18 yr. old daughter has fibromyalgia and is experiencing sharp shooting abdominal pains. They started in upper rt. quad. few wks ago now they are stabbing pains rt under the sternum. we suspected gallbladder or pancreatitis-had abd. xray, abd. u/s and HIDA scan and labs drawn. The HIDA impression was (normal hepatobiliary study) The u/s impression ( no cholecystitis or cholelithiasis) The only abnormality in labs was her inflammatory system is elevated, which it always is due to fibro. Can fibro cause these abd. pains?
Yes, fibromyalgia can cause CRP levels and other inflammatory studies to get elevated because she is going through an inflammation inside her body.
She should get a urine analysis done to rule out possible urinary stones or infection. Plus, ovulation or changes in urogenital tract during incoming periods can also cause such pain.
Discuss this with her caring doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
