What Causes Severe Pain In The Abdomen?

Hi I woke up today with the feeling as if someone has punched me in the stomach. I have not had this pain before and know it is not nothing I have eaten. The pain is all over my abdomen and worse when I lay down or move. Any ideas what it could be? Corinne

Hi
Thanks for posting on ahcm
Severe abdominal pains are not to be taken lightly as thay may reveal very serious abdominal conditions including acute abdomen. There are many possible causes of abdominal pain like:
-digestive infections
-acute/surgical abdominal conditions
-UTI
-Gynecological problems in females
-And so may others
However, only a clinical examination by the Doctor may help to know what may be causing it.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination.Depending on the findings at physical examination, tests may be requested that may help in diagnosis.Tests that may help incluse: abdominal ultrasound, plane abdominal film,Chest x ray, stool exam/culture and others.
I will suggest you see the Doctor immediately for evaluation.
Hope this will help
Wish you a speedy recovery
