What Causes Severe Pain In The Abdomen?

My question keeps disappearing, so hopefully I haven t sent it 3 times. Anyway, my boyfriend suffered a head trauma years ago when he was hit very hard in the head with a baseball bat. Following the incident, he began having severe abdominal pains and has suffered from horrible bouts of stomach pains ever since. Is there any possibility the two can be related? His doctors have only been able to diagnose him wth diverticulitis, but the symptoms flare up even when he is on a very bland diet and taking antibiotics.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Abdominal pain and head trauma are unrelated. However, diverticulitis can explain the recurrent episodes of abdominal pain. Follow high fiber diet like bran, oat, vegetables etc to avoid constipation. Drink plenty of water daily. Take antibiotics during acute episodes as prescribed. If diverticulitis frequently recurs, then surgery is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
