Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My son is doubled over in pain with a stomach ache. He says it hurts in his middle belly area. Nothing seems to help. We gave him Tums earlier in the evening. Then moved to Pepto Bismol. He has had it since about 3:00 this afternoon. Any suggestions?
If it's around the umbilicus, then it is an early sign of acute appendicitis, since its very early stage it is easier for us to treat the condition medically without surgical interventions at all. Most of the patients won't get diagnosed at this earlier stage only. Get an ultrasound abdomen to know the diagnosis. If its appendicitis then goes ahead and get a prescription for antibiotics to reduce the inflammation and get treated completely. If its something else noted in the ultrasound I would prefer you to tell me the later date.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
