What Causes Severe Pain In The Arms?

Hi. I have been having a lot of arm pain since November. I have some pinched nerves that flare up in my neck and shoulder sometime but all of the shoveling snow has been really aggravating it. I have pain in both arms that goes right from my elbows to my fingers. I thought it had to do with the shoveling because we have had a lot of snow & ice. But I noticed when I ate certain foods. I hurt more. I have a lot of food allergies for many years so I know how to do a process of elimination diet. I was drinking a shake I made every morning with my lactose free milk, whey protein (which I ve had before) and I have been either adding blueberries, raspberries, bananas or cherries into it. I stopped drinking it and the pain went away. Its an intense pain shooting down both arms. I stopped drinking it for almost a week and I have had none of that pain. I started drinking my lactose free milk again for a week now...no problem. I drank the milk today with the whey protein this morning and I am in intense pain. Can the whey protein be doing this and why? I also gained 10 pounds over this winter if that means anything. Thanks Elizabeth

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
