What Causes Severe Pain In The Ball Of The Foot?

yes, the ball at the bottom of my foot and undernealth my toes is very painful. The foot swells up after wearing heels to work. I don t think its plantar fasciitis. it feels like I injured something in that area. I have iced it but the pain comes back.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Plantar fasciitis is a possible cause of the pain underneath your toes because the plantar fascia extends from the heel to the toes. Another possible cause of the pain, especially if you walk a lot or use high heels is fracture of the metatarsals.

In both cases seeing a physiotherapist and taking paracetamol and ibuprofen might suffice but if no improvement with these you will need to see your doctor.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
