What Causes Severe Pain In The Big Toe?

Okay so I my big toe started hurting while I was walking home today and the pain has steadily grown worse to the point where it woke me up and its hard to walk. I have toenail fungal stuff goin on, have for years and it hasnt bothered me before, but two days ago I filed the nail down a bit and painted over it so it would look somewhat normal, and ive done this before without issues. But the pain seems to becoming from the nail area itself. And I did all that two days ago. It just started throbbing randomly while walking home today around two. Any idea whats up or how I can get it to stop?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Aceclofenac or Tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
