What Causes Severe Pain In The Body And Difficulty In Walking?

My friend has severe pain that moves to all parts of her body. She has been on predisone for over a year now. I got better, but never went away. Now it has flared up in her legs, and it is also making it very difficult to walk. She said she kind of staggers and she feels like she has to think about every step she takes. They have not been able to really diagnose her. They said that it is possibly polymyalgia rheumatic, but they don t really think it s that either. She has always been thinner and in good shape. Use to walk miles a day.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

Do a clinical exam by your family doctor and to confirm do few investigations like [bone scan, Sympathetic nervous system tests, and MRI scan]

Do follow few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Applying cold may relieve swelling and sweating. If the affected area is cool, applying heat may offer relief.

2)Discuss with your treating Doctor about topical analgesics such as capsaicin or lidocaine patches

3)Do consult with your physio to make an exercise plan.

4)Do transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) if pain is severe.

5)Do take a multivitamin with vitamin C regularly at bedtime

6)Discuss with your Doctor about the lowest dose [amitriptyline] to prevent recurrence of symptoms.

Hope that helps
