Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In The Calves, Thighs And Buttocks?
I am 73 and have been on pravistatin for several years. I also take Eloquis for an afib problem. Also take Cybalta and Losartan. Recently I started having severe pain in my calves, thighs, buttock, shoulders, neck and arms. These were very reminiscent of the trouble I had when I first started taking statins. I checked on my supplier for pravistatin and discovered that they had changed manufacturers. I don t know if this could be the cause or not. I was told by my dr. To stop taking the statins for two-three weeks to see if the myalgia stopped. It has not. My blood profiles prior to stopping indicated no problems with LDL or HD l, cholesterol or creatinine kinase. I have noticed some weight loss. Don t know what to do to stop the problem. AM pm Tylenol seem to help somewhat, but still not enough
I think you are facing the statin induced myopathy. Especially, since the CPK is normal. Sometimes the weakness/myalgia is due to Statin intake and may take long to improve. So please hold on and watch your fluid and electrolyte balance.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
