What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest And Breathing Difficulty?
I AM 40 YEAR OLD MALE WITH AN OLD INJURY FROM FALLING FROM A TREE AT THE AGE OF 16 AND BROKE SHOULDER BALL OFF. I HAVE A LOT OF SCARE TISSUE ANA A LOT OF PAIN. CAN THIS CAUSE BURSITIS? FOUR DAYS AGO I WAS HIT IN THE CHEST AND HAVE EXTREME PAIN IN BOTH AREAS. I WENT O HOSPITAL THEY CAN NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I WOKE UP THIS MORNING AND WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY BREATHING. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT I CAN DO FOR THIS OR IF YOU THINK IS COULD BE BURSITIS
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bursitis does not commonly affect the chest area but it can affect the shoulder joint. Detailed imaging of the joint with CT or MRI, may be needed to identify the changes that have occurred. Likely bursitis can be seen on MRI. Rest, warm compress and pain medication would help till you can have the imaging done. Anti-inflammatory meds would be the best option, e.g., Naproxen, Ibuprofen, etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
