What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest?

I am 62 yo and pulled something in my chest area last Saturday. It has gotten much more painful through the week. I have seen a doctor twice and had x-rays done yesterday to determine if anything was broken. X-rays were fine and there was no sign of respiratory infection. It hurts very badly when I bend down or breathe deeply. Probably an 8 on a scale of 1-10. Not sure what to do at this point, but seems to be getting worse.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
intercostal muscle pull or spasm or intercostal nerve pain could be bothersome as there are very little interventional therapies
Relax take rest
take antispasmodic or anti inflammatory medicine like Diclofenac (Voveran) or Tramadol ( Ultracet) tablets

if not relieved it could be nerve pain take Pregabalin 300 mg tab twice daily caution may cause drowsiness so if pain tolerable take at night for 1 week.
