What Causes Severe Pain In The Eyes?

More than three weeks ago, I started experiencing acute pain just under my eyebrow about an hour after lint from the laundry got into my eye. A few hours after that, my lid started to swell, and when I woke up the next morning, my entire eyelid/socket was swollen shut. Urgent care checked my eye for scratches, diagnosed me with a stye, and sent me on my way with topical antibiotics. For the first 3 days the swelling and pain got worse...it felt like the whole left side of my head was being crushed. Slowly the pain was replaced by itchiness, and eventually the swelling was replaced by what appeared to be a stye. I did 11 days of the topical antibiotics, and what I was left with appeared to be a blood blister on my lid. The blister has since drained and flattened, and is now red with a hint of yellow underneath. Is this how a stye heals, or is something else happening?
