What Causes Severe Pain In The Feet And Toes?

I have had serious low back pain for over twenty years-car accident with multi level spine fusion from a failed surgery. Abut two years ago I very swiftly came down with acute numbness of my feet and about ten days ago the numbness turned overnight into very serious gout pain, mostly in my left big toe, first radiating from the big toe to the entire foot to both feet. Now my pain is shooting all the way from my my low back to my feet. The pain in my feet feels like a morose electrical PAIN shooting through both feet all the way up to my low back. My doctor has started me on gabapentin, along with the meds to address the pain in my back pain which I have taken in different combinations for twenty years. Just as I m writing this, the pain in my feet has increased dramatically.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi,

As per your description, it may be a neurological pain due to spine injury or vitamin deficiency. So you may take some additional multivitamin and along with Gabapentin which is already prescribed to you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Adish V. Doshi, Psychiatrist
