Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the past year, it s hard to sleep at night because my back, left Groin and pain down my legs keeps me awake. It has gotten much worse. I went to a sports doctor that gave me exercises to do. I do them and that hasn t helped. I work out 3 times a week. in the last couple of weeks, the pain in my groin has increased tremendously during the day also. About 20 years ago, I was diagnosed with a ruptured disk in my lower back. I have had a few epidural shots that helped tremendously. I think that the pain in my groin and legs is probably related to that. What kind of doctor do I need to see? Also, I had my pros tate removed about 2 years ago and am cancer free as of now.
* The pain in groin and legs with past history of ruptured disc indicates underlying nerve compression at the spinal cord level at this point giving symptoms mentioned above.
Though assisted physiotherapy and medications of the pain-relieving segment can give transient and best relief, in my clinic, after a thorough clinical examination.
I do recommend an MRI of the spine (lumbar region) to look into the nerve compression matter in greater depth and best guidelines accordingly to cure it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
