Hello there,
With your description of back pain and groin pain it is more likely due to some kidney related illness. A good probability of it being a kidney stone or calculi especially if you have had these pains on and off and you do not drink 3 or more liters of fluids daily. I will advise you to go to a lab and get an ultrasound of whole abdomen done. It is normally done when you have a full bladder so check with the lab about scheduling it correctly. Once those reports are in hand than we can decide what your treatment options are.

Hope this helps,
Please feel free to get back to me with any further questions, I will gladly answer them,
