What Causes Severe Pain In The Groin Area?

Two nights ago and now tonight I am having a throbbing/jolting pain in my left groin area right where inner thigh meets hip. I also felt a slight rapid heartbeat just before this started. I am not on any medication. Middle aged, female, overweight.
