What Causes Severe Pain In The Hand Joints And Fingers?

About two months I began to wake up with a lot pain in my hand joints and fingers. They are stiff and feel weak. The symptoms clear up in a few minutes but can return during the day sometimes. It all happened very suddenly and now is becoming a concern. Any advice?
