What Causes Severe Pain In The Hands?

I am in my sixties, not super healthy, vey overweight, but lead a very actie life. still working, however this am, I awoke with severe pain in both hands. I was not able to move my thumbs, and the joints of the hands(knuckles) were exceptionally painful. My shoulder did the same as both knees. I m able to move them a bit, the pain, stiffness, and swelling are still present. There was no strenuous workout, or gardening. Just trying to think what this could be. Any information would be appreciated.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to rheumatoid arthritis. I suggest using anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen. I also recommend doing gentle stretching exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
