Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I don t know if my pain is from a heel spur as it isn t located on the heel rather the side of my foot. Doesn t seem to bother me when walking but once I stop, remove shoes, it is painful. It is on the sole of my heel (if I am saying that correctly.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The pain on your foot very likely is due to plantar fasciitis. It is due to tension on the fascia (a structure on the bottom of the foot) that starts at the heel and extends to the toes. The pain might be on the heel or on the side of the foot or sometimes the whole sole of the foot.
You can take high dose ibuprofen to help with them (400 mg after food 4 times a day), use ice massage locally where the pain is for 10 minutes a few times a day and meanwhile look for a physiotherapist that can give you some exercises to help the fascia relax and improve the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards, Antoneta Zotaj, MD
