What Causes Severe Pain In The Ischial Tuberosity?

For 8 weeks I have had severe pain at my ischial tuberosity which has not been alleviated with physical therapy. It hurts to sit, stand, bend, stoop - daily tasks are painful and the chronic pain is debilitating. Two nights ago I slipped in water and felt rubber-band like popping in that area, along with even more intense pain than I have felt before. What can I do to get relief?

Hi,

You can take ibuprofen like an anti-inflammatory drug until you get evaluated further. It will help in relieving pain and inflammation.

Avoid strenuous activities for a few days. You need to investigate with digital knee joint X-ray for further work up.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
