What Causes Severe Pain In The Knee, Thigh And Groin Area?

What could cause aching pain like tissue tearing from left knee, up thru thigh, across groin & sometimes pain continues down right thigh to right knee. had xrays..shows some arthritis.. nothing unusual for age. g. Five years ago I did have left knee scoped because of torn minicus. These recent xrays of knees, upper thighs, groin & back does not suggest need for surgery at this time. Presently doing physical therapy for past 6 weeks..sometimes it helps for a time but pain always returns. Usually feel the best when I get up in morning, but pain returns after being up for about 2 hrs. I cannot run anymore because of this..leg hurts when I try to go up/down stairs..usually favor left & do 1 step at a time. I am quite active normally during decent weather. I spend a lot of time outside doing various yard projects in my 1 acre yard. I do go to a wellness gym especially during winter..mainly use eliptical & have started using leg press & leg curl machines with quite light weights .(advice from PT) I ve used a fitbit past 3 yrs. usually get 10000 steps during winter..much more Spring thru Fall. This condition started about 5 months ago.

Spine Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

There could be many reasons for pain but from your history,it seems to be osteoarthritis of your knees. You need to do quadriceps and hamstring strengthening exercises and also do stationery cycling in gym. Even after doing exercises regularly, pain can sometimes come.so you can take anti inflammatory drugs SOS at that time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
