Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am seven weeks post RTKR and have pain standing up and cannot begin to go up or down the stairs. (I could go up the stairs before my surgery without pain.) Any leg lifts produce a sharp pain on top of the knee and soreness for days. Should I wait to build strength for another month - since my body seems to be telling me to wait? I also cant walk normally since the operation due to this pain - I walk like I have an artificial leg. I can t seem to tell my leg otherwise. Your thougths/ advice? Should I just be patient for a month or so and stop worrying for now? Or should I be actively doing something at this point. Should I be worried? Thank you.
Hello there. I have read through your question and can understand your concern. It takes atleast three months after TKR to be fully mobile and pain free. In the mean while you should be active but don't try to over exert as it takes time to get adjusted after knee replacement. I would suggest you in the meantime to take something for pain relief. Tab aceclofenac can help you. I hope that answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to write.
