What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Hand?

I woke up in the middle of the night with severe pain in my left hand and figured it would be gone by morning but it wasn t. Now the pain is getting so bad and feels like my hand is being placed in a bowl of ice. Is this something that needs to be addressed by seeing a doctor or will it just work itself out?

Hello,
I just read your query. See sudden pain in only left hand might have two possible causes, one is nerve compression, second is any injury while sleeping(as your hand get threw or fling into bed).
*To rule out any of these possibilities you need to visit a nearby physician because he can rule out after examination the cause behind it.
*If you want to wait for sometime then do take care of symptoms and support your hand with splint bandage, it will help you in improving your condition. If you are taking any pain killer then it would provide you only temporary relief until the exact cause will be ruled out.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer and it would be helpful for you.
Thank you.
