I have extreme pain in my left hip down the front left leg. I cannot get comfortable, went to doctor yesterday and they gave me prescription for ibuprofen and muscle relaxer. Nothing is even touching the pain. No X-ray or cat scan were taken. Should I go to emergency room the pain is unbearable. I have high pain tolerance so I am really concerned with my pain level. Please help
Hello, my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi. I understand your concern. I think that your symptoms are related to sciatic pain. Some advices that I can give to you are: -take pain relievers such as acetaminophen, aspirin, or NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, ketoprofen, or naproxen. -take muscle relaxants to ease muscle spasms. -In some cases, a steroid medication is injected into the space around the spinal nerve. - physical therapy. The proper exercises may actually help reduce sciatic pain. -bed rest is not recommended as a mainstay treatment. You may find that certain positions and activities are more comfortable than others.
