Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Leg While On Bactrim?
I recently had a bladder infection and was given a form of Bactrim. I then started experiencing sharp, stabbing pains in my left leg almost every 10 min except when sleeping when it was more like once per hour. My doctor changed my meds to a different antibiotic (Ciprol?). The leg pains have decreased significantly, maybe every 4 hours - but now I am also experiencing numbness in my right hand middle finger. I feel like my vision may have been somewhat compromised but not sure if it is just that I am tired.
This medication has side effects of joint and muscle pain but it may not be there always. The pain is due to this fixed dose combination.
If you have any pain further you may also need to stop Ciprofloxacin because this drug also may damage the tendon, mostly seen in young girls.
To prevent these side effects visit to your general physician and get it replaced as soon as possible, also take plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration that can be responsible too for generalized body aches.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muzaffer Hussain Parray,
Dentist
