What Causes Severe Pain In The Left Thigh?
Hello Dr. Rynne, I am experiencing a sudden (6 hours) onset of fairly intense (perhaps a 6 on the pain scale) pain deep in the left thigh. It is only a slight discomfort at rest but upon standing or sitting the pain becomes quite intense. There s nothing amiss superficially and I have had no recent impact. Earlier in the week I was experiencing tightness in both upper thighs but that has subsided. Thank you so much for any insight, Claire

The symptoms are consistent with neuropathic pain like sciatica.
As of now you can try analgesics like gabapentin for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persists you can consult a neurologist and plan for an MRI scan.
