What Causes Severe Pain In The Leg Muscles?

I was washing down a wall and suddenly I could not straighten up. The pain is so severe. I cannot get up off chair or bed without a walker. It hurts to try to roll over in bed. I had to have my husband help me get dressed in the morning because I could not lift my leg without it hurting. Went to ER, they gave me dose of pain medicine but it did not touch the pain. I have been taking muscle relaxers and ibuprofen but nothing is helping. What could it be.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out possible causes like a peripheral vascular disease. As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an arterial Doppler.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
