Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have severe pain in both legs during the night. It is stabbing, dull, achy, sharp and throbbing. I take Ibuprofen 800mg and get very little relief. What can I do? My doctor has not recommended anything in particular. One doctor said it s fibromyalgia.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Severe leg pain what you are experiencing could be caused due to muscular spasms. Kindly get a colour Doppler ultrasound scan done to rule out thrombosis in the blood vessels. If that comes as normal, you need to do the following. 1. Take analgesic with muscle relaxant medication such as Ibuprofen with chloroxazone after food. 2. Take Vitamin E, Selenium and Vitamin C capsules to provide antioxidants. 3. Supplement with calcium by means of tablets and diet. 4. Drink oral rehydration solution, citrus fruit juices and tender coconut water regularly to replenish electrolytes. Gradually, you should overcome the problem and should find yourself better. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
