Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
61 YEAR OLD MALE WITH EXTREME LOWER GUT PAIN CRAMPING OVER 24 HRS. initially CONSTIPATED then diarrhea which turned to bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Slight temperature is now able to keep fluids down and a little food but still having severe bouts of stabbing pain in gut and back.
It seems like mesenteric ischemia. The old age and sudden development of cramping pain and bloody diarrhea are highly likely of this condition. He needs to be taken to a general surgeon and get a mesenteric angiogram done. Besides that it can also be a sigmoid volvulus, so just take him to a general surgeon as soon as possible.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
