What Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Back?

HI, I m a 37 year old female. I ve been having lower back pain off and on for a few months. this past week has been the worst ever. I ve also had some weird shooting pain in my pelvis and yesterday I noticed a bunch of petichiae on my upper legs. Is there anything that would cause all these symptoms or are they likely unrelated. This is my first bout with back pain really and I haven t had any trauma or injury to the area. Christina

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Your back pain is since one month

So in this latest technology time, I suggest you to do following investigation rather than just prescribing analgesic

Investigations that will be helpful ...
1.CBC
2. X ray spine
3.If needed CT scan done
4.serum calcium
5.serum vitamin D level etc

If specific cause found than treated accordingly

For ex. If calcium level low and osteoporosis like condition present than calcium and vitamin D tablet prescribed along with alendronate like drug

For petechie check your platelet level (included in CBC)

Take care

Hope your concern solved

Consult orthopedic surgeon for examination and further work up accordingly
