What Causes Severe Pain In The Lower Leg After A Knee Injury?

I recently had some trauma to my knee, a bone bruise. I have been in therapy for 7 weeks. My orthopedic doctor just released me and said she would follow up in 2 months and if any changes, she would order an MRI. Last night, I was walking down steps and I felt a severe pain shooting down from the side of my knee down my leg. It happened several times since then. What could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

As you felt severe pain while walking down to steps, it may be due to a ligament injury. Kindly consult with orthopedician and you may require x ray or MRI knee joint.

You can take tab. Aceclofenac and apply Diclofenac gel or ointment. Do warm fomentation. Restrict activity at joint.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
