Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have sharp, shooting pain on the top of my right foot. Just started while in bed. I took 2 Tylenol PM then rubbed Voltaran on it. I was diagnosed with 2 permanently damaged nerves in my right foot. Have had numbness in 2 toes for several years. The pain just started tonight and happens every few seconds.
You have a history of diagnosed damaged nerves in the foot. Severe pain in the foot is usually there because of foot neuropathy. If you are diabetic, control blood sugar for neglected treatment for diabetes may lead to diabetic neuropathy and complications causing severe foot pain. Foot pain can also be due to Morton's neuroma (thickening of the nerve that runs between 3rd & 4th toe).
You should take vitamin B12 along with folic acid, cortisone injection helps to reduce the nerve inflammation. Take the medications as prescribed and get all nerve function tests done to rule out any developing pathology. Get physically examined by a Neurologist, take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
