What Causes Severe Pain In The Right Leg After Physiotherapy?
Hi, recently I was in a car accident and fractured my L1 vertebrae and had surgery to stabilise the spine, 6 screws and 2 rods were used. After about 4 weeks I didn t have that much pain, I went for a private physio session and half an hour afterwards I had an extreme pain down my right leg which lasted about an hour and a half then calmed down a lot. This happened two weeks ago and since then I have had this pain, sometimes it is worse than others, it seems to get especially sore when I m sitting. Do you know what this could be?
The reason behind the leg pain after physiotherapy is the compression of the sciatic nerve at the vertebral region. It may due to the increase in the amount of fluid in the cause of nerve.
This type of pain always occurs after injury or surgery. But if it occurs for more than 2 to 3 hour then it is serious.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ashish Arya, General & Family Physician
