What Causes Severe Pain In The Throat?

Hi, I have had the most painful throats over the past 8 days?! I ve been to hospital because my temperature was to high, my whole body was sore, I couldn t swallow, I couldn t eat, and I could barely breathe with out pain?! The hospital said it was really bad?! They had given me steroids, blood tests, pee tests, needles, tablets and a drip?! It got better after the steroids but was still very sore, but now it s almost as bad as the start which was 8 days ago?! I honestly think I have a tonsil cancer? My ear is aching, my under chin/neck is very sore...

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it is due to pharyngitis (inflammation of throat). As of now you can take drugs like acetaminophen for symptomatic relief. Do warm saline gargles also.If symptoms persist better to consult an ent specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
