What Causes Severe Pain In The Toes After An Injury?
Hi I stubbed my big toe and it bled through my shoe. My nail is yellow now and seems to be raised and disconnected from the nail bed. Pus comes out of the side of the nail as well as under it. My toe is in great pain and it locks so when I bend it, it makes a cracking noise. What is wrong with it?
Most probably it will be a minor contusion or thin fracture following the trauma.
As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief. You can also apply ice compresses for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopaedic and plan for an MRI scan.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
