What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Abdomen While On Keto Diet?

i started a keto way of eating 7 days ago. last night i had HORRIBLE upper stomach pains. for hours....i finally took baking soda/water and simethecone and it went away eventually. today i feel like i got run over by a truck....my body has traditionally not accepted high fat foods(like alfredo....), some people in my keto group think it is gall bladder related. Regardless, i do not want to experience that again1 Karen

Hello,

As per your clinical history is concerned, it can be:

1. General dehydration.

2. Lack of electrolytes. (You can pick up electrolyte pills if you are averse to diet sports drinks - you seriously need that sodium, potassium, and magnesium).

3. Fat and protein digests more slowly, which means they stay in your stomach longer. For some people, this feeling of fullness is very uncomfortable.

Please consult your doctor so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
