General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms you described are concerning for a lung infection, like pneumonia, and I would recommend he sees his doctor soon to get a chest X-ray and blood work. If his doctor is not available I would suggest he go to an urgent care or ER, since if it is an infection it will be important to check it out soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
