What Causes Severe Pain In The Upper Thigh After Working Out?

Hi, i just joined a gym and during my initial evaluation, i had sudden severe pain in my upper right thigh that seemed to be associated with my hip joint. I was doing lunges and as i pushed off with my right leg i felt a sudden tug with severe pain promply followed by burning in the general area of injury. I iced it but am still in moderate pain when walking with pain getting worse if i pivot on that leg. It is pretty sore to touch with the painful area beginning in the front of my thigh up very high, just below my hip joint. The painful area continues down my thigh predominately on the inside of my quadricep for a few inches

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Pain in upper thigh after a physical execise especially if you are not used to exercising may be:
-pain experienced during or immediately following exercise
-delayed onset muscle soreness
-pain induced by muscle cramps
Each of these types of pain is characterised by a different time course and different etiology. However, it is generally believed that lactic acid is responsible for this pain but other factors that may also play a role in this type of pain are ions, proteins, and hormonal factors.
I will suggest you try the following:
-Take enough water
-Balanced diets
-self-massage to help reduce muscle tightness
-Massage therapy
-Stay active.Though muscles need to rest to recover, being completely inactive the day after exercise may prolong soreness.
-Sleep well
-Ice/heat therapy
-If pain too intense, you may add a pain drug like aceclofenac and a myorelaxant like miorel
Hope this will help
Best regards
