What Causes Severe Pain Inside Vagina During Intercourse?

Hi sometimes when my patner and i are intimate i feel pain inside. It s a heavy pain. Its like im swollen inside and he touched that painful spot and the pain remains for days. And somedays there is no pain at all, its like it was never there. Do you by any chance know what might cause this?
