Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain On Right Side Of Body And Breathlessness Post Injury?
I am a 58 yr old female who experienced my first bike crash on a casual bike ride thru Germany riding a cruiser (not my usual road or mountain bike). I am 3 days post crash & having increasing pain & trouble breathing on the ride side on which I fell. No other symptoms-pulse regular & normal rate, along with respiration rate WNL- just labored b/c of pain.Is this related to bruising & need for continuing ibuprofen or should I consider other possibility?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It seems you had a strong blow on right side of your body including chest. A through physical examination is need followed by X-rays of injured parts including chest, as per need. Possibility of severe trauma with inflammation of tissues around / possibility of fracture of ribs needs to be scrutinized. Pain medicines would have a better effect, if given for specific type of trauma and breathlessness.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
