What Causes Severe Pain On Right Side Of The Body Post Back Surgery?
Four months ago I had back surgery P-T4 with instrumentation and a wedge taken out to straighten my back. I continue to have terrific pain on right side of body mainly from right buttock to toes. I also have bad pain on right shoulder blade. I have had MRI of right hip, lower back and ex-ray of right knee. MRI of lower back, shows a black spot on spine where the nerve going down the leg would come out so dr. can t tell anything. I am in pain almost all the time and I wish to find the answer and have something done to make the pain go away.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The type of pain you have suggests compression of the spinal nerve in the lumbosacral region. The treatment would be by medicines, physiotherapy or surgery according to the grade of the lesion. Consult an expert radiologist/spinal surgeon for reading MRI & give inference.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
