Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Severe Pain On Right Side Of The Head?
I am having sharp stabbing pain on the right side of my head above the ear feels like electric shock lasting for a few seconds but very frequently t. It started about 18 hours ago. With little break. I have taken tylenol and ice packs, with some. It little relief. I have a about 15 every half hour at the worse. I was in a serious car accident one year ago with concussion and back fractures T2 and 3. I had a heart stint last July.
I understand your concerns, the symptoms you have described could be of trigeminal neuralgia. Tynenol and other analgesics won't help in that case. Usually, Carbamazepine which is an anticonvulsant or tricyclic antidepressants like Amitriptyline are prescribed to treat this condition.
I would recommend that you visit your doctor if your symptoms do not go away in a week. it's not a life threatening condition.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saralkumar R. Desai,
General & Family Physician
