Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing severe pain on my left side, middle of my back, by my ribs, and the pain wraps around to the front, underneath my rib cage. It pains to breath in deep, and it pains my stomach when I eat or drink. It also pains me to move or bend on my left side. Is this pleurisy ? It started on 5/7/17
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Severe pain on left side of back, ribs pain wrapping around to the front underneath rib cage, increases on breathing pain in stomach on eating or drinking, pain on bending to left side are indicative of a Thoracic spine problem along with pleurisy and possibly severe gastro-esophagitis. I would advise you the following in such a situation. Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation, examination and get the investigations done. Urgent EKG to rule out any cardiac problem. X-ray of the chest and CT scan if required. Upper GI Endoscopy. MRI of the spine. All these things will lead to a proper diagnosis so that proper symptomatic, supportive and definitive treatment can be done.
