What Causes Severe Pain Under The Rib Cage Upon Coughing And Sneezing?
Hi. I am a 63 y/o m with a history of pneumonia and lung access 14 years ago requiring triple dose Abxs to clear. For past few days have had a worsening sharp pain under right rib cage with coughing, sneezing, straining. Tonight I noticed a red rash in the area. It is tender to palpation but I cannot reproduce the significant sharp pain I get with coughing. Thoughts?

Regarding your complaints, the rash and the sharp pain under your rib cage may be because of herpes zoster virus and you should take some antiviral medications for that. But taking in count your medical history it is better to see a doctor to confirm the diagnosis
