Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My nine year old daughter complains of intense pain when trying to walk or stand. The pain she says is coming from her hips around her hip bones. She is crying of intense pain. I gave her motrin. She said it is not her stomach. Only her hips, her hip bones hurt.
Hi Mrs Xxx! I have gone through your questions and I understand your concern.
I would say according to what your prescribe it may be caused by the inflammation in the hip joint .We call it toxic synovitis or transient synovitis and it's a temporary inflamation of the hip joint with no long terms complications .. This is usually caused after a viral infection , throat or viral gastroenteritis and goes away within 1-3 weeks .The treatment is painkillers : Ibuprofen and rest
I suggest to go to the local doctor , he will examine your daughter hip and leg functions to confirm the diagnosis. And if it's neccesary he will do a blood test to see the level of the inflammation , a ultrasound of the hip or a Xray if he suspect of any bones problems ,:septic arthritis or other conditions .
Wish your daughter good health. Thank you for using HCM.If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.
