What Causes Severe Pain With Thick And White Substance Inside The Ear?

My son has ear wax draining for His ear. It has now dried up but when I cleaned his ears and used a light to look inside his ear I noticed its a thick and white substance that I can see? He was crying that they hurt last night but now c/o pain to touch

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the white substance draining out from your son's ear along with pain and still presence of thick white substance in ear seems to be due to infection and the substance seems to be pus..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Otoscopy can help in diagnosis..
In case if there is an ear infection he will be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen or Tylenol, oral and nasal decongestants..
The physician can also remove excess pus from ears to accelerate healing..
He can also be advised antibiotic and analgesic ear drops..
Along with it avoid exposure of ears to water like swimming, avoid picking of ears to clean as it can cause accidental eardrum rupture..
