Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I find my heart beating very hard and fast for no apparent reason. Sometimes it happens in bed at night and sometimes I am just sitting at my desk. I do not feel any pain, just a very fast and hard heartbeat which I can feel in my head, neck and chest. I cannot think of anything that I am thinking of, worried about or any physical problem that would cause this.
I recommend getting an EKG done to rule out cardiac arrhythmias. You should also undergo Thyroid function test to rule out hyperthyroidism, which can cause palpitations. Please be advised to follow-up with a primary care provider for further evaluation.
Hope this answers your question Please address further questions here Regards Dr.Lekshmi
