Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I recently suffered with severe peripheral vertigo to the left side. I did the epley maneuver but I m still a bit dizzy n slightly off balance when I walk. I can turn to the right n left in bed without having any spinning. I did the epley maneuver 2 weeks ago. Should I do the epley maneuver again. Thanks
Mostly this is benign paroxysmal positional vertigo causing dizziness. Dizziness occurs when you change the position of your head with respect to gravity. Advice 1. Take bed rest for few days if fresh attack occurs 2. Continue Epley’s maneuver 3. Cinnarizine 25 mg every 8 hours orally on fresh onset of dizziness until subsidence of symptoms 4. Betahistine 8 mg every 8 hours orally on fresh onset of dizziness until subsidence of symptoms 5. Avoid position which aggravates dizziness 6. Use two pillows when you sleep 7. Avoid sleeping on the affected side 8. Don’t turn your head far up or far down 9. You can use cervical collar for 1 month to stabilize head I hope this information will help you. I will be happy if you ask another question Thanks
