Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have these really itchy red bumps that turn to blisters, but have lightly scabbed afterwards and look black. It started at the crease at the back of my right and left knee and there seems to be 1 or 2 more everyday. 1 spot is right about groin area and a spot looks like it s forming on the shaft itself. I have an apt. with the doctor on Friday but I m worried it s something bad.
Severe itchy bumps on the skin are commonly due to atopic dermatitis. Keep your skin rehydrated with petroleum jelly, wet wraps, apply topical corticosteroid creams, ointments like Efaderm creams in the area affected. You can take oral antihistamines to reduce the bumps & control itching. Stay away from irritants & allergens that trigger Atopic dermatitis. Phototherapy is also effective. However, you are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP to rule out Baker's cyst, bursitis or effusion. Get assessed & treated at the earliest.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
